I got a very good question during a meeting with a potential customer the other day. He asked me “why is sales configuration complicated, isn’t just a bunch of dropdown menus that you need to keep track of?”

In essence that’s true, so why is it complicated?

Ok, so imagine that bunch happens to be 25 menus with 10 selections each which is a common amount for Tacton models. To analyze all theoretical combinations of these 25 menus with 10 selections you have to analyze 10^25 solutions. Just to put that into perspective, it is believed that the number of milliseconds of the history of universe is 10^23 – hence if you spend 1 millisecond on each potential solution you need to wait through history of time 100 times!
